Bill is a Managing Director and a co-founder of VRA. He brings more than 35 years of investment banking experience and a broad base of M&A, private equity and industry expertise to the firm. Bill has been involved in over 300 completed transactions during his investment banking career, for both public companies and privately-owned businesses in all of the industries on which VRA focuses, with particular expertise in the business services, consumer and industrial sectors.
Prior to founding VRA Partners, Bill was President and Head of Investment Banking of The Robinson-Humphrey Company, one of the largest regional investment banking firms in the country, and its successor, SunTrust Robinson-Humphrey. In addition to his responsibilities as President, Bill was responsible for the execution of investment banking transactions, including merger and acquisition assignments, financial advisory assignments, private placements and public offerings of equity and convertible securities.
During the period 1996 to 2006, while Bill was Head or Co-Head of Investment Banking, the firm completed 390 M&A transactions with aggregate value in excess of $40 billion and 460 public and private financings with aggregate value of more than $60 billion. Bill was a member of the firm's Executive Committee, Board of Directors and Capital Commitment Committee. He also served as a Managing Partner of RH Capital Partners, the firm's private equity investment fund.
Prior to joining Robinson-Humphrey, Bill was a Managing Director in the Investment Banking division of Dean Witter Reynolds Inc. where he was responsible for the generation and execution of investment banking transactions. Prior to Dean Witter he was a Vice President with The Citizens & Southern National Bank.
Bill received a BS from The University of Virginia and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
